The Tamaara'a & the Dinner

Part of the experience of going to Tiki Village, is the opportunity to enjoy the Tamaara'a, the Tahitian meal that is cooked in the ground.  A pit is dug in the sand, fire is started, the food is put over the fire and covered up with palm fronds. We were shown how the food is cooked and later were able to taste it.

We  looked on as the Tahitian method of cooking was explained.  After we were shown what we were going to be eating that night, we went on a tour of the village and then to dinner.

The band played Tahitian songs while Connie helped out by playing the spoons in a bottle of wine -  nice trick if you can do it and Connie could!

The King and Beth got along very well!

Part of the entertainment was the Tahitians showing how to tie their pareos.   Below:  Connie got into the act too.
