OCCHIPINTI WINERY IN VITTORIA

Occhipinti Winery in Vittoria and the owner and winemaker, Arianna Occhipinti was featured on Stanley Tucci’s Season 1,  episode 6 Sicily -  Searching for Italy.  We took a tour of the winery.  Unfortunately Arianna was not there but we had a wonderful tour.   Vittoria is a town and commune in the province of Ragusa and we stopped here on our way to Agrigento.

Occhipinti has many different vineyards and they not only make wine but also harvest  olives, wheat, and citrus fruits.

Above is a Frappato di Vittoria plant.  Occhipinti makes  natural wines.  They do not use pesticides and harvesting is done by hand.   This will be their 22nd harvest.  They also specialize in the Nero d’Avola grape.

2004 was Arianne’s  first label and she uses seal wax on her bottles of wine made by the Frappato grape.
