The Yasawa Islands are above the Mamamanucas and are a chain of 16 volcanic islands and several smaller ones. The islands are dry and sunny with white-sand beaches, crystal-clear lagoons and rugged
landscapes. The group of islands has been featured in the movies, "The Blue Lagoon", the 1949 version starring Jean Simmons, and in the 1980 version starring Brooke Shield.
The Yasawas are
sparsely populated having only about 5000 villagers.
There are no banks, postal services or medical services. Best way to arrive here is by plane or you can charter a seaplane. There are a few ultra-luxury resorts in the Yasawas.
