Tiki Village

Any travel agent can issue a ticket or book a cruise . . .
We create Travel Experiences . . . that extra effort is our hallmark!

Among our many memorable experiences our evening at Tiki Village was one of the best!  Rated by Frommer's South Pacific guide as "the best cultural experience in all of French Polynesia", and built in ancient Tahitian style, the staff demonstrates for visitors the art of the tattoo, tifaifai and feast, among other attractions.  We spent a fun-filled (and often hilarious) evening dining on traditional Tahitian food and learning about the ancient ways.

The evening begins with the opening of the himaa, the Tahitian earth oven. Below:  the group listens intently to the MC explain what they will be eating that night for dinner.

After the tour, the group gathered in the Tiki Village restaurant for a traditional meal of Fei (cooked banana), Uru (Breadfruit), Taro (a root vegetable), Fafa (a chicken with spinach dish), Pua (pork), Poe (fruit baked in coconut milk), and an international buffet with grilled meats and fish and a selection of delectable desserts.  The meal also included wine.

Olivier Briac created Tiki Village, which is a Tahitian village where craftspeople actually live and work.  It is Polynesia's largest show, with over 60 dancers, artists, musicians and fire dancers performing enthusiastic dances.  Below, Olivier speaking to the audience after the performance.

After we were shown what we were going to eat for dinner, we were taken on a tour of the village.  Heinui used to play in the band at the village so he got to say "Ia Orana" to many of his friends!

At the dinner, we were shown how to tie our pareos!
