Below are some of the Great Barrier Resorts that you can consider for your island fantasy. 

World-famous 5-star LIZARD ISLAND RESORT is on a continental island located right on the Great Barrier Reef and is a boutique island resort.  Children are welcome 11 years and older.     It is a national park and has 24 white sandy beaches and 40 suites.  It is a one hour flight from Cairns. Included are all meals daily.

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park extends to just south of Papua, New Guinea to Lady Elliot Island in the south.

GREEN ISLAND RESORT is a 32-acre coral cay 16 miles (45-90 minutes) east of Cairns and has patches of dense rainforest.  This was the first resort on the Reef and is a favorite of day trippers.  It has an underwater observatory.  There are also day trips to Michaelmas Cay, one of the largest bird rookeries in the southern hemisphere and trips to the Outer Reef.

ORPHEUS ISLAND RESORT is located 120 miles south of Cairns and 50 miles south of Townsville.  Only 42 people can be on the resort and your tariff includes all your meals, non-motorized acivities.  The resort has no telephones, TV's, daytrippers or children under the age of 15.

5-star BEDARRA ISLAND RESORT has 16 simple but luxurious lodge-style rooms and fine dining.  It is a continental island located on Bedarra Island and can be accessed from Cairns or from Mission Beach.  Caters to singles or couples and children 16 years or older.   All meals and beverages are included.
