Cradle Mountain is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tasmania and is part of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park.  The park is part of the Tasmanian World Heritage Area and also includes Lake St. Clair, which is a 600-foot deep glacial lake (the deepest in the southern hemisphere).  Cradle Mountain is easily accessible from Devonport, Launceston and Hobart.

Cradle Valley was carved out of glaciers 20,000 years ago and is the site of Dove Lake and Cradle Mountain (right).  The Cradle Mountain Lodge is one of many accomodations in the valley.

Cradle Mountain boasts a variety of fine bushwalks, varying in difficulty from simple to rigorous.  The most famous is the Overland Track, which extends for 53 miles.

There is plenty of wildlife to see in the park and Cradle Mountain Lodge offers nocturnal tours.  To see more of Cradle Moutain Lodge, click on the button above.
