Way Out Back Australia - Where llfe is larger and the adventure is with You.

The Bullo River homestead began life in 1965 as a tin shed.  Over the years the family expanded on the original tin shed and built around it this wonderful homestead that you see today.    Massive pieces of stone make up the walls and the floor in most of the rooms.   The stone is from the area and they now have running water and electricty!   People who visit Bullo live in the guest quarters that border the main homestead but all meals are taken at the homestead and you can spend as much time as you want in the main livng areas of the homestead.

From Sara's book, "From Strength to Strength", a description of Bullo when they first arrived.
"I started to investigate the tin shed.  It consisted of a large area in the middle with a roof and a back wall.  On each end of this open section were rooms, like two little boxes. A continuation of these two rooms on one end formed a breeze-way kitchen, only two walls, and a breeze-way laundry, and on the other a bathroom and toilet....Although there were water pipes, there was no running water; in fact, there was no water, period. And there were light switches, but no electricity."

Bullo has two huge main rooms. The stonework is very impressive.

Marlee told us that the tin shed was located here in this room.  They just built around it and expanded it.

On the grounds is a swimming pool.

This is the building the guests' stay which is right next to the homestead. The rooms have a shower and a toilet and are very basic but very comfotable but you spend most of your time at the homestead.

When you stay at Bullo all your meals are included. Because the weather was so nice we ate all of our meals on the patio.

My room.
