TWO SEASONS

  Dry - May to October

   Wet - November to April

Northern Territory is the northwestern region of Australia and consists of two regions, the Top End (Darwin, Kakadu, Litchfield, Katherine National Parks Arnhem Land, & the Tiwi Islands), and the Red Centre (Ayers Rock/Uluru, Kings Canyon & Alice Springs). Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory, is located 1 1/2 hours from Bali and is the gateway to Asia.  It is a multi-cultural center.  The Territory extends from the border of Western Australia on the west to Arnhemland in the east and the border of South Australia to the south and is as large as France, Spain, and Italy combined. The Territory is known for its National Parks, Uluru/Ayers Rock and Alice Springs, its aboriginal heritage and rock art.   Northern Territory is the true Australian outback.

When is the best time to visit the Northern Territory?  In the Top End (Darwin) there are two seasons - The Dry (May to October) and the Wet (November to April). The temps stay about the same throughout the year but the difference is the humidity.

The Red Centre's desert climate is arid and they have two seasons - Summer (95-70 F) and Winter (68-41 F). It makes for warm days and cold nights.
