Below are some photos of the capital of Rarotonga, Avarua.  It is a laid-back South Pacific town with very friendly people.  There are no chain restaurants, no large chain American resorts and many locally-owned shops to explore.

There are two roads around the island.  This is picture of the old road.

Shopping center in Avarua.  This is as big as it gets!

The Natural History Museum.

Trader Jacks is one of the main restaurants in town on the pier.   When the cyclones hit in 2004, Trader Jack's was destroyed but the management put a shipping container within the destruction and opened up again as Jack-in-the-Box!

There is one roundabout in town and no stop lights.

Mopeds are everywhere but you need a Cook Island Driver's License to drive one!  It's a great souvenir.

The Christian Church is predominant in the islands.

Tombstones are everywhere!
