THEIR HONEYMOON DETAILS

AUCKLAND

Auckland on the North Island, is known as the "City of Sails" because it has more sailboats than any place else in the world.    It is the largest city in New Zealand and has one of the largest Polynesian cultures in the South Pacific.

They will roam around Viaduct Harbour which was developed as a yatching base for the America's Cup.   Now it is a bustling harbour with hotels, pubs and shops.

At Viaduct Harbour, they will probably eat at the Loaded Hog, a very popular pub.

In Auckland they can go to the Minus 5 Ice Bar!

They can take a 30-minute ferry ride to Waiheke Island where they will find wineries, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants.

The Skytower at SkyCity is the highest tower in the Southern Hemphisphere and has amazing views of Auckland. Plus they can also bungee jump off of the tower!

Auckland Harbour Bridge spans Waitemata Harbour.   You can climb it  and even bungee jump off of it!

WAITOMO GLOWWORM CAVES

ROTORUA

Rotorua is the "Yellowstone of New Zealand".   Thermal and geyser activity abound in this area.  The town sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire and is also a center for Maori culture.

They will be taken by bus to Waitomo Glowworm Caves which are 2 hours outside of Auckland in the Waitomo area of New Zealand. They will go on a 45-minute boat ride through Glowworm Grotto.

Danny & Christine want to go Zorbing while in Rotorua -rollling down a hill in a ball full of water!

Above: Some of the thermal sites they will visit in Rotorua.

While in Rotorua, they will go to the Tamaki Maori Village where they will have a hangi (Maori dinner cooked in an underground oven) and attend a Maori concert where they will see the traditional dances and hear the songs of the Maoris.

QUEENSTOWN

Then it's onto Queenstown on the South Island, the adventure and adrenalin capital of New Zealand.  The resort town sits on Lake Wakatipu with The Remarkable Mountains as a backdrop.

They can take the Skyline Gondola up to Bob's Peak which overlooks Queenstown.  They can also take the Skyline luge down the mountain or they can even bungee jump off the peak!

Danny & Christine want to take the luge down from Bob's Peak.

Downtown Queenstown.

They will take the TSS Earnslaw, a vintage steamship, on a cruise on Lake Wakatipu out to Walter Peak's Country Farm where they will have a New Zealand dinner and then visit the farm and watch the sheep dogs herding  the sheep and will watch a sheep being sheared.

One of the highlights of any trip to Queenstown is a trip to Milford Sound in Fjordland National Park. Above is a photo taken by one of our clients on their cruise to Mitre Point in Milford Sound.  Right:  One of the boats they will take into the fjord.

Danny and Christine are huge Lord of the Rings fans and Nomad Safaris will take them on a Safari tour showing them the locations around Queentown where Lord of the Rings was filmed.

CHRISTCHURCH

Then onto Christchurch, the most english city in New Zealand.  Located on the east coast of New Zealand the city is known as "The Garden City" ,  because of it's parks and public gardens.

Cathedral Square with Christchurch Cathedral.  They might run into the Christchurch Wizard who hangs out here!

Christchurch is the home to the International Antarctic Centre.  It is one of the few places in the world where you can fly to Antarctica. The museum tells the story of the explorers and life on Antarctica and you can also ride a Hegglund (right), which is used in Antarctica.

The Christchurch Tramway is a good way they can get  around the city and learn about its history.

Daniel and Christine will take the Tranz Alpine train through the Southern Alps to Arthur's Pass and go jet boating.

Left:  They can take the Christchurch Gondola to the crater rim of Christchurch's famous extinct volcano. to get a spectacular view of Christchurch, Canterbury Plains, Lyttlelton Harbour, Banks Peninsula and the Southern Alps. While at the summit they can take the Heritage Time Tunnel and discover the history of the area, walk the rim or go mountain biking, eat at a restaurant or go shopping.

Kaikoura is a small town north of Christchurch where Danny and Christine will go whale watching.

Punting (boating) on the Avon River which runs through Christchurch is a another fun thing they can do.

Danny & Christine have already paid for their honeymoon.   If you want to give your "Memory Wedding Gift" to Danny and Christine, please send them a check to: Marla Paterson, 1275 Timber Valley Road, Colorado Springs, CO  80919-2809.
