GALVESTON, TEXAS

Chartered in 1839, Galveston Island, with a population of 60,000, is located on the upper Texas coast of the Gulf of Mexico, and was the principal port into the southwest during the 19th century. This coastal town has experienced a recent revitalization, making it one of America's newest beach resorts. It has four distinct historic districts with approximately 1,500 historic buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. Besides historic homes and districts, Galveston also has boat rides and cruises, carriage rides, gardens, 14 museums, sightseeing trains, and trolley rides.   

Your itinerary.  Because of Hurricane Katrina, the Conquest will depart from Galveston, TX instead of New Orleans.  This picture will be replaced as soon as a new one is available.

 You will fly into Houston's Hobe (Southwest) - 45 minutes from Galveston) or Bush International Airport (1 hour, 45 minutes from Galveston.  NASA's Johnson's Space Center is located here and you can tour their facility.

Galveston has 32 miles of sandy beaches and has become a leading Gulf Coast resort.   

The city has two historic areas with gas lamps, Victorian homes that date back to the 1800's and the clip-clop of carriages along the Strand.  Below are some of these historic homes.

Galveston has a wonderful aquarium.  There are many things to do that would interest children - an IMAX theater, Rainforest Pyramid with 2,000 exotic species of plants and animals, Duck Tours, .

The SeaWolf also sits in the harbor along with The Colonel, a three-deck paddlewheeler.  

The Galveston Harbor is very historic and The Elissa is a restored sailing vessel built in Scotland in 1877. 

MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA

Jamaica is located 700 miles southwest of Miami and it is the third largest island in the Caribbean. Montego Bay is in the northwest part of the island.  It was a British Colony and is known for rastas and reggae, jerk pork, ginger beer, mountains, beaches, jungles, waterfalls, streams and rivers.

GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS

Snorkeling is a shore excursion you can participate in.

Grand Cayman is 22 miles long and eight miles wide and is the principal island of the Cayman Islands.  It was a British Crown Colony and is well known as a wonderful scuba diving area.

A popular shore excursion is horseback riding.

Cozumel is Mexico's largest island is located 12 miles off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. San Miguel is the little mexican town where you will dock.  This island was made famous by Jacques Cousteau who declared Cozumel as the most beautiful diving area in the world.  The island sits on the Caribbean Sea.

Snorkeling is a fun shore excursion.

Xcaret on the Riveria Maya - a 40-minute ferry ride away to the Riveria Maya on the Yucatan Peninsula.

Safari Tours are a popular activity. 

Chankanaab Nature Park and their  Dolphin Adventure.

Shopping, shopping, shopping.  The main town of San Miguel has lots of shops and restaurants.
