A wonderful day trip you can do while you are staying on the Coral Coast is to take Discover Fiji's "The Jewel of Fiji" day tour. You are picked up at your hotel and taken to the town of Navua where you board a long boat which takes you up the Navua River. You can book this tour at your hotel. |

After you get outfitted in a life vest and plastic poncho (if it is raining), you then board your long boat for the trip down the Navua River to the interior of Fiji. Along the way, you pass by many waterfalls and smiling, waving children. |

You arrive at Koromakawa Village and are greeted by the sound of drums and the greeting, Bula! This village is a replica of a village established in the 1800's by englishman, John Humphrey Danford. |

The heart and soul of any Fijian village is the welcoming kava ceremony. One member of the group is designated as "Chief" and the group is escorted by a Fijian warrior into the village meeting house or bure where the yaqona (kava ceremony) is performed by members of the village. Far right: The chief, Chuck, accepts the first cup of kava for the group. Then everyone else is served kava. |
