Beaches, beaches, beaches - that's one of the wonderful things about Perth!  Perth has at its doorstep the Indian Ocean, and there are 19 beaches along a 22-mile strip called the Sunset Coast.  Below are some photos of just a few of them.  Rottnest Island, a carless island,  is another must-see.  Located 12 miles off shore, this is  home of the quokkas, a small marsupial, and the waters around the island have coral reefs and 97 kinds of tropical fish - it's a great place to snorkel!   Other day trips - the Swan Valley wineries, the Perth Hills, Rockingham and New Norcia (a Spanish Renaissance town), which is home to 18 Benedictine monks.

The Sunset Coast is #3 on the map.

ROTTNEST ISLAND is a short ferry ride (30 minutes) or flight from Freemantle.  it has warm currents, rocky coves, sheltered beaches and coral reefs.

Scarborough Beach is just one of the many beaches along the South Coast of Western Australia.  Other popular beaches are Sorrento, City, Swanbourne (naturist), and Floreat.
