You haven't been Down Under 'til you've been Outback!

Katherine, population 9,450,  is 196 miles south of Darwin along the Stuart Highway.  People make the trek to Katherine so they can cruise the gorge, located in Nitmiluk National Park, a short drive from Katherine.  A string of 13 gorges cut by the Katherine River through the Arnhem Land Plateau, it is a huge area about the size of France.  You can visit the area by small boat or helicopter.
