Robert Louis Stevenson called the Monterey Peninsula "the most beautiful meeting of land and sea on earth."  The coastline is dramatic, the beaches are wonderful and the towns of Carmel, Monterey and Pacific have much to see and do.  Below are some photos of the places you will see when you come to this little bit of paradise in California. There are also wonderful Bed and Breakfasts to stay in the the peninsula abounds with famous golf courses.

MONTEREY & PACIFIC GROVE

Monterey was the capital of Alta California under the Spanish, Mexican and American flags. Many of the structures built before 1850 have been preserved. There is Cannery Row, made famous by John Steinback where galleries, shops, and restaurants have replaced the sardine factories of yesteryear.  The Monterey Aquarium houses more than 500 species of marine life in more than 100 galleries and exhibits.  Adjacent to Monterey is the small town of Pacific Grove. From here you can travel the 17-mile drive which is the scenic route from Pacific Grove to Carmel. Points of interest are Seal Rock, Cypress Point and the Lone Cypress.  Among the six golf courses along the route are Pebble Beach, Cypress Point, and Spyglass Hill.
