Father Junipero Serra established a mission at the site of Carmel, CA in 1771 and is buried at the foot of the altar in the cathedral. Carmel was founded in 1904 by a group of artists and writers. The village of Carmel has strict laws that outlaws tall buildings, neon signs, traffic lights on residential streets sidewalks and house numbers. It has many art galleries, shops, restaurants and a nice beach. |
